Here is an email this week from Pastor Mike.

While I love the colours of fall, it is the season I struggle the most!
Whether it’s the shorter days and less sun, the colder weather, or the fact
that I’m never ready for winter, I find this time of year weighing on my
mental stability! I usually walk around in a fog, struggling to find
motivation, with the coupled frustration that I just can’t seem to get much
done in a day. I’m not sure if I wasn’t meant to be an animal that
hibernates because it seems the only thing I feel like doing this time of
year is sleeping and eating. Ok, well maybe that’s what I feel like doing
all year but the feeling seems to intensify this time of year!

It was in that state of mind that I opened my bible to do my devotions
yesterday morning and read these verses. “When I think of all this, I fall
to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and
on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will
empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make
his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into
God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand,
as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his
love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to
understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of
life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able,
through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more
than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus
through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT Do I
believe God is the creator of everything in heaven and earth and that he
has glorious unlimited resources? Do I believe he wants to empower me with
inner strength through his Spirit? As I trust in him am I aware that Christ
wants to make his home, literally reside in my heart, and enable me to be
rooted, grounded, and strengthened in the love of God? Do I really
comprehend the Love of God to its full extent? Have I experienced the love
of Christ, I realize we have situationally but am I fully aware of this
experience? In light of all of those verses and the questions that arise in
my mind in regards to them, the next verse is the kicker for me! Because of
all of this I will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power
that comes from God! Wow, what a statement! Does my life feel complete with
fullness of life and power? I won’t lie to you, for the most part, no it
doesn’t! Does this seem like something that would even be too lofty to
attain, think or ask? Paul goes on with his next statement giving glory to
God whose mighty power is at work in us, apparently accomplishing more than
we could even think or ask!

Do you feel discouraged or disheartened today? Maybe you feel rejected
or like your life has fallen through the cracks. In whatever state of mind
life finds you in today take comfort in the words found in Philippians 1:6
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will
continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus
returns.” The final chapter has not been written, on your life or
humanities! I firmly believe that as we apply the above principles to our
thinking and actions we will grow in fullness and completeness and power!

Just a reminder that pastor Dave has started up the Firm Foundation
class again on Sunday mornings at 9AM for those formerly in it or those
interested in digging deeper into scripture.

Keep your head up!
