Well I don’t want to get your hopes up or anything, but there is snow in
the forecast for tomorrow! Don’t put your shovels away just yet! Do you
happen to remember that Easter weekend a number of years ago when we had
that big dump of snow Friday night that knocked the power out for like 30
hours! I remember I had a medieval feast dress up thing at my place for a
number of friends on Friday. Dean Drinnan was dressed as some kind of Pict
warrior all painted in blue with no shirt on! Later that night we had over
a foot of heavy snow which knocked some power lines down. I still remember
waking up to a cold house, getting the wood stove stoked up and frying eggs
and bacon on the top and just hunkering down and reading a book all day!

Easter weekend is always a different story weather wise every year.
Sometimes it’s hot and beautiful, sometimes we get another shot of old man
winter! We often make our plans to get together with friends and family for
a celebration! As I think about how in the midst of our dreams and plans we
are still at the mercy of the weather this time of year, my mind goes to
what it must have been like for the followers of Jesus during that season
approximately two thousand years ago. On palm Sunday they were celebrating
His entrance into Jerusalem as their long awaited saviour messiah! And just
a few days later they stood looking at Him hanging on a cross!

Life is like that at times. We think we have a pretty good idea of what’s
to come. At times we are excited for some new occurrence or opportunity,
only to have those dreams dashed before our eyes. At other times the future
just looks dismal, seemingly like there is no light at the end of the
tunnel. We need to remember in the darkest of moments, we don’t actually
see the big picture either! I’m sure as the very few of the remaining
faithful followers of Jesus stood looking up at that cross, all seemed
futile and lost! And yet, in just a couple days God would reveal a much
bigger, better plan!

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus! He is the Way! The Truth! The Life! He is
our only hope! The only true source of meaning, purpose and fulfillment
there is! He’s won the victory! He knows the end of the story because He’s
written it for us! It’s a good ending!

This Sunday please come and celebrate His resurrection with us! We are
having a fellowship time starting at 9:30 at the church before the morning
service with some muffins and fruit. If you would like to help out with
that please contact Cheryl Fischer.

“*Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to
the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down,
especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with
endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on
Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the
joy awaiting him,he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is
seated in the place of honour beside God’s throne. Think of all the
hostility he endured from sinful people, then you won’t become weary and
give up.” Hebrews 12:1-3*
