PASTOR MIKE’S GARAGE APRIL 9/20

Okay, in case there was any doubt as to whether or not I have redneck
tendencies, I’m about to remove it! I used to enjoy Duck Dynasty back in
the day when it was on TV. Not because I like duck hunting, which I
actually havent really ever got into. Even though watching a bunch of
hillbillies go throughout thier day and run a multi million dollar business
was pretty entertaining, that wasn’t the real reason I enjoyed the show
either. It was watching a family passionate about their faith in God walk
that out in the midst of the limelight that I found intriguing and the fact
that they closed every episode gathered around a table for a meal and
giving thanks to God.

In my last pastors garage I encouraged us all to try and fill our
minds with healthy things that build us up instead of fill us with
distraction and anxiousness. In my desire to find uplifting evening
entertainment I stumbled on a podcast on Youtube called “Unashamed” by Phil
Robertson(the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family). It’s just Phil and two
of his sons sitting around a table, open bibles in front of them, talking
about life, current world events, and our role in the midst of all this as
followers of Christ. They are natural comedians so the podcasts are always
entertaining, but watching how they incorporate thier faith into their
every day decisions and walk has be been challenging and encouraging to me!
I have been espeially challenged in the way that they consciously carry
their faith in Jesus into evey aspect of their life. Jase(one of the sons)
really spoke to me on one episode when he likened the salvation experience
to that of a all-in in poker. Am I really all-in in my faith? Have I place
all my chips on the table based on the cards that God has offered me
through Jesus or am I holding a few back as a safety net? In the last three
episodes they have been discussing baptism and in one Jase compared it to a
actuall funeral. Have I really laid my “old man”(sinfull man) to rest or am
I still holding on to him…. I would encourage you to check these videos
out, they have been very inspiring and uplifting for me

In closing I just want to share some verses I spent some time
meditating on this morning. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say,
Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is a hand;
do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God,
which surpassed all understanding, will gaurd your hearts and minds in
Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of
praise, think about these things.”Phillipians 4:4-8

Love you and miss your faces! Pastor Mike
