The Pastor’s Garage January 27, 2022

Well this has been a bit of a hectic week. Two of our kids tested positive
for Covid on a rapid test and the younger two developed the same symptoms
the next day – fever, headache and runny nose. Thankfully Liz and I have
steered clear and the kids seemed to bounce back really quick.
Unfortunately, this means several days of isolation and some
canceled hockey games and hockey tournaments. In the grand scheme of
things, it’s really not that big of a deal, but frustrating and tiring as
we try to navigate the regulations. We are all doing well though and
everyone seems to be recovering. I’m very thankful. I’ll be honest that I
had moments of fear, but “God has not given us a spirit of fear and
timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7) and I
found that my fear subsided whenever I brought the matter to prayer.

This Sunday our very own Sheila Warne-Peter will be preaching! I would
really encourage you to come and support her and to hear what God has put
on her heart. I for one am really excited to hear her share. So please be
in prayer for her and also lift up pastor Mike in prayer as he leads
worship this week. Also don’t forget that Kid’s church is running now, so
make sure you bring your kids in for that.

Starting February 20th I am planning on starting a new study on Sunday
mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 am. It is a 7 part series on “The 7 Practices
of a Disciple that Multiplies.” I really think that this is something that
could be transformational in the way we think about church and about making
disciples. It paves the way for sharing the gospel and making disciples
right in our own home – something that I think is going to be more and more
important in the future – House Church.

I know that life comes up and people can’t always make it, but I’d like to
get at least 5 people to commit to doing this study. So if you are up for
it would you please get back to me as soon as you can. If this doesn’t
work, I am more than willing to do this study in your home with you or with
your small group. I would simply do the first two studies with you and then
let you do the rest on your own. It’s very easy to lead! If you would like
me to do this with you or your group let me know. If you want me to do it
with you in your home all I ask is that you find 2 more people to do it
with you.

God bless and have a great week!

Dave
