The Pastor’s Garage March 19th, 2020
March 19, 2020
Sunday Service this weekend. I know that this is not what many of you would
choose, but we feel this is the best path forward, to not only honor our
government and medical professionals, but to do our part to protect those
at risk. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact
me.
In response to this we are doing two things:
– First, we will be providing an online program we are calling “The
Sunday Experience.” There you will find links to videos and suggestion for
things to do and watch with you with your family. This will probably evolve
as we go, so be gracious and do your best to try something new. You can
find it here <grenfellap.com/?page_id=3015>, although it is still
under construction. Elders and pastor’s will be available Sunday morning
for prayer support as well, details can be found on that page.
– Secondly, we will be rolling out a program called 5Alive which I hope
will foster community, connection and outreach. You can find more about it
on our website under 5Alive. We are all going to need to do our part to
care for one another. Please stay tuned for more details.
For those who would like to give online during these times, you can send an
e-transfer to admin1@grenfellap.com. Don’t forget the “1” after “admin”.
Please write your mailing address in the “message” box in the e-transfer
form for tax purposes. For those who would like to donate with cash or
check, the church will be open Sunday mornings from 10:30 to noon and on
our regular office hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-noon.
For now we will put Youth on hold as well as Firm Foundations. We will wait
for at least a couple of weeks before gathering again to see if some of the
dust settles and to allow things to level out. Things are changing so fast,
we’d rather err on the side of caution.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though
outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by
day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal
glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen
is eternal.”
Please don’t lose heart. This is a struggle and it is difficult, but lets
place our eyes on Jesus and look to him. He is in control and his plan goes
beyond just this world and what we see – and we are a part of that plan!
I would ask that any groups meeting in the church please speak with myself
or Pastor Mike before meeting. If you can hold off meeting for now, that
may be the wise thing to do. If you do come into the building I ask that
you come with clean hands and practice social distancing. It goes without
saying that if you are sick, stay home. Please follow the SHA website
<saskatchewan.ca/covid-19#utm_campaign=q2_2015&utm_medium=short&utm_source=/covid-19>
for guidelines and for info – we all need to do our part!
God bless,
Pastor Dave
