*Pastor Mike’s Year End Garage! Dec 29/22*

“Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never come to mind, should old
acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne!” Now I won’t lie to you, I have
heard that song a thousand times or more, but had no idea what actually
“auld lang syne” meant. I just looked her up on the old interweb and it is
a song based on an ancient Scottish poem, the literal translation of “auld
lang syne” being “long since past!” As we draw another year to a close, we
often look over the past with retrospect; our hearts warmed with warm
memories, saddened with losses, and challenged with regrets or
unaccomplished desires.

I thought I would once again just give a short year end address for this
PG. As I look over the last year the first thing that comes to mind is just
how grateful and honoured I am to serve this church in some small way. You
are good people trying to navigate uncertain times just serving the Lord
the best way you know how! There have definitely been hills and valleys
over the last year, as there always are, but it has been a privilege to
walk with you through it all! We are in no way perfect, but I am proud of
my church family and love you all! I have felt so supported throughout this
year and have been encouraged by your faithfulness! There is no place I’d
rather serve!

Here’s wishing you all the best in the coming year as we continue to learn,
serve and grow together in the Lord! I will close with a passage from
Philippians that came to mind while writing this. “I don’t mean to say that
I have achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But
I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first
possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I
focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what
lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the
heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus is calling us.”
Philippians 3:12-14

From our household to each of yours, here’s wishing you a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year!
