The Pastor’s Garage October 10th, 2019

So the hot air is blowing in our house! And no it’s not me telling stories
again, the furnace is installed and running. We’ve got some work to do to
put the ceiling back together, but the furnace is going strong, just in
time it seems for a little blast of winter.

Hard to believe that winter is creeping up so fast. I’ve actually been
waking up feeling angry at the weather – and I am not even a farmer! Truth
be told our farmers are patient and resilient people (that I have a lot of
respect for) and they have probably seen this kind of stuff before or
worse. The reality is that this has not been an ideal year for harvest for
much of our province, and it can be frustrating or overwhelming to think
about. However, our trust is not in a good harvest nor is doom sealed by a
bad harvest or years of bad harvest. Psalm 46:1-2 states,

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains
fall into the heart of the sea.”

God is our hope and our protector and our strength. It’s to him that we
look for help. There is nothing that we should fear. Easier said than done,
but I like to think of this as a direction to head to rather than a
destination to acheive. I’m not perfect and don’t react perfectly when I
face a trial or a fear or a struggle. But more and more I do try to head
this direction when I am faced with things. I don’t know where you are at
when it comes to the weather right now. Maybe you are facing another
challenge in your life. But if you are facing something, remember *WHO not*
*WHAT* is your refuge and our strength. Here’s a song that you might find
uplifting that someone recently shared with me: music video

This Sunday I will be sharing on Thanksgiving and the importance of giving
thanks. I will be sharing from Philippians 4:6-7. Please pray for the
service and for Mike as he leads worship.

God bless and have a good weekend!
