The Pastor’s Garage again…

Hey, I sent my email out yesterday and some of them bounced back because
the attachments were too big. Here’s the text of what I sent and some links
to the images. God bless.

——————————————————————————————-

On Wednesday we dropped off Liz’s family for their trek back to
Pennsylvania. It was a really great visit and so good for all of us to have
them here. It was really special having her brother here considering his
journey with cancer over the past year and a half. I am amazed at the
strength and courage he has which I know is a grace that God has given him.
I hope some of that courage has rubbed off onto me.

Yesterday I decided to take some time on my dirt bike and enjoy what might
have been our last really nice day (although today looks pretty nice too).
I explored the Pipestone and some trails around Crooked Lake. Check out the
shots I have attached. I was just in awe of the beauty that surrounds us
which many times we just stop seeing. I’d encourage you to take the time to
enjoy some of our local beauty! All of this given to us by God for our
enjoyment – and something which speaks to us about His character and power.
As someone once said to me, “drink deeply of God’s grace.”

Tomorrow, Bruce Lungren will be sharing in our service about the work the
he and his wife have been doing and about missions in the world today. I am
excited to hear what God has put on his heart.

This week is our annual halloween warm-up spot. Feel free to stop by and
enjoy a cup of hot chocolate by the fire from 4-9pm.

On Saturday morning we’ll be having a men’s breakfast starting at 7:30 am.
Feel free to invite a friend. Kevin Hassler from Kipling will be sharing
with us. I’m looking forward to hearing him share.

As always, please uphold the service in prayer! Appreciate your diligence
in this.

God bless,

Pastor Dave

Wow. Beautiful day today! Can’t believe how the weather can change around
here. Regardless, I am thankful for the change, now maybe I have a chance
to get these leaves raked up!

I am going to be short this week because I really want you to take notice
of some of the things coming up.

Tomorrow is our youth kickoff for the year here at the church at 7:00pm. We
are going to have games, a bonfire and an escape room. The winners (team
with the shortest time through the room) will be getting something amazing
(no idea what yet).

Just an FYI, Liz and I are going to provide leadership to the youth for the
foreseeable future and will be inviting some of you to join us so if you
have an interest to help out with youth, let me know.

This Sunday will be our first of many Family Celebration Services. We will
be keeping the kids upstairs and the service will be a “kid-friendly” one.
This Sunday I’ll be telling a story about the difference between faith and
belief and what that means for a follower of Jesus. It’s also a pot-luck
Sunday so it’s a great Sunday to invite a friend or a family of friends.
See you there.

As always, please uphold our worship leaders and myself in prayer.

God bless,

Pastor Dave

I am excited.

Really, I am about something. I am not totally sure what, but there is a
sense of excitement in my heart as I think about our church and what this
year will bring. I have a sense that good things, awesome things are gonna
happen this year. I think we are in a great place. We are stable
financially as a church and we are seeing a growing sense of community.
Many people feel comfortable and at home here in our community and I think
what is coming next involves us opening our lives and our hearts to more
people and being more open and more inviting when it comes to our faith.

I mean, when you think about it, the one thing that people crave and desire
and desperately need in our world is relationship! Relationship and
community with others AND relationship with God. People really do have a
God shaped hole in their heart that needs to be filled and it really is
only filled by God – there isn’t anything else! It’s an old analogy, but it
is true. So, we have what the world needs. By God’s grace we have this
treasure to give. Let’s share it and see where it takes us! So yah, I am
excited, because I feel like we are starting to get this and a desire in
our heart to share is growing.

A few things to put on your radar this week:

– Youth is starting up on October 19th. Youth, meet at the church at
7:00pm. Games, bonfire and an “escape the room” challenge.
– This Saturday at 7:00pm is our monthly prayer meeting. We will be
praying for the community of Grenell.
– On Halloween we will set up our warm-up spot in the parking lot with a
fire pit and hot chocolate. I need a couple people to help, so let me know
if that will work for you.
– A reminder about shoeboxes for Christmas. They need to be here by
November 11th.

Some of you have been asking if we will have a service here at the church
on November 11th being as it is Remembrance Day. The answer is yes, we will
have a regular service here at the church and we will incorporate
Remembrance Day into our service. However, I will say this, *if you would
like to attend the town service being held at the town hall, you have my
permission and blessing to attend that. *I just know that some can’t or do
not attend the Remembrance Day service and so if we didn’t have a service
there would be nothing available.

Finally, please pray for me as I close our the series on Ephesians this
week and for Lisa and her team as they lead worship.

God bless,

Pastor Dave

Seriously, what have you all done? I go away for a few days and I come back
to cold and snow? I guess I am not allowed to go anywhere?

Just kidding, we live in Saskatchewan. We never know what is going
to happen.

It was an amazing trip and I can’t thank you all enough for the support
through your prayers and through your giving. I will share a little report
about the trip. I am so blessed to be part of such a giving and supportive
and sacrificial community. Thank you!

This week we will be continuing our series on Ephesians. I’ll be covering
chapter 5 this weekend so I’d encourage you to read that between now and
then. If you have been following along on the videos keep doing that. They
are a great supplement to what I will be talking about. You can find the
videos here: www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/195647.

On October 19th we will be starting up our youth program here at the church
at 7:00pm. We will have a night of games, a bonfire and an “escape the
room” challenge. The winning team will be rewarded with some loot to take
home. Liz and I will be providing leadership to the youth for now. We are
excited to be hanging out with them again.

If you are looking for a way to volunteer in the community I have a great
opportunity for those who would like to read to children in the elementary
school who are maybe just a little behind in their reading. Commitment is
about 1 hour per month. Please come and speak to me if this sounds exciting
to you.

Please pray for the service this Sunday and for Mike Zorn and his team who
will be leading worship.

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving weekend.

God bless,

Pastor Dave
